Apple Harvest

September is a month of harvesting the growth from summer as we transition from summer to fall. Minnesota is home to the Honeycrisp apple and we aren’t shy about it! This apple tastes exactly how it sounds, sweet and crispy but it also holds up well when used in cooking, just like the beloved Granny Smith. We asked our chef team for a sweet and a savory recipe highlighting local apples. Chef Chris created a crunchy, apple and kohlrabi salad topped with the perfect amount of parm, while Chef Alexandra created an apple and oat crisp highlighting some of our favorite local ingredients such as, Somerskogen Sugarbush Maple Syrup and Baker’s Field oat flour. Bonus: both of these recipes are gluten free! We hope you enjoy making these recipes after a day of apple picking!
