Chris Nye

Chris Nye began learning his way around the kitchen at a very young age, when he and his brother would cook dinner for their family once a week. It was then that he fell in love with the joy of cooking for others and getting to watch them enjoy it.

Chris met Chef Gavin Kaysen cooking for him at Café Boulud in New York. After several years in the Washington DC area, he serendipitously planned to move back to Minneapolis at the same time as Chef Gavin, and opened Spoon and Stable with him as Chef de Cuisine.

Since then, he has grown to lead the kitchens across the restaurant group as Executive Chef. In this role, he enjoys investing energy into the staff and helping other chefs develop, sharing the same type of mentorship he once received. He prides himself on a continued commitment to local and regional sourcing as he helps build a collective vision of Minnesota cuisine from the roots up.

When he’s not working, Chris loves to spend time with his wife and their two young children.
