Maggie Schmidt

director of accounting

Maggie is thrilled to be back in Vikings and Wild territory with Soigné Hospitality. A native Minnesotan, she returned to her hometown in 2018 after six years in Chicago with One Off Hospitality, where she managed the bookkeeping for The Publican branded restaurants and wholesale bakery. Chicago also happened to be where Maggie first recognized a delight in cuisine. At age ten, on a mother-daughter trip, she curated the restaurants (Ed Debevic’s, Topo Gigio, and Bistro 110) and began a lifelong love of food, well-prepared.

Maggie studied Management and Marketing at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, where she spent more time singing a cappella than focusing on her mandated Accounting classes. In her Junior year, Maggie became the Chief Operating Officer for The Corp, the largest student-run non-profit corporation in the world. The Corp provided a unique opportunity to bring business class concepts to life in an immediate setting in the industry that she would later embrace as a career.

Her deep respect and love for numbers arose later, through her work at W Hotels. She began in Front Desk Management, fueling her passion for hospitality and transitioned to the Accounting team when she realized that she could control numbers better than people. When choosing to return to the Twin Cities, Maggie was drawn to Gavin Kaysen’s team of forward-thinking, hospitality-driven individuals. She loves sports and music and has a deep appreciation for art and Navajo weavings.
